In today’s list, we are going to take a look at the top 5 NFTS ever sold. If you have not heard about NFTS , here is a simple explanation: NFT stands for non-fungible token. Simply put, it is a digital token that exists on the blockchain to record proof of ownership for the person holding it. Each token is unique because it has its unique metadata which can never be replicated or replaced for another.

5. Ocean front — $ 6 million

We start the list with the NFT ocean front that has been sold for 6 million dollars. Ocean Front is one of Beeple’s masterpieces from the Everyday series that portrays the dangers of climate change. Beeple arranged for the Open Earth Foundation that is a non-profit organization that aims to promote open-source platforms “that help increase planetary resilience” Sending a strong message to the world along the way.

4. Crossroad –$ 6,6 million

Crossroad is another digital artwork created by Beeple the creator that also made number 5 of this list, which was resold for $6.6 million on Nifty Gateway, an NFT marketplace owned by the popular cryptocurrency exchange Gemini. The work shows a depiction of former US President Donald Trump lying down with several marks on his skin after losing the 2020 US presidential elections.

Crypto punk #’7804 is an NFT from the CryptoPunk series that was sold last March 2021. It is an Alien Punk, which concerns an extremely rare Cryptopunk. Furthermore, it wears 3 accessories including a pipe, cap, and sunglasses. Note that only 378 Punks use pipes, only 254 wear caps and only 317 wear small shades. The collectible was sold for around 4,200 ETH, which was worth $7,57 million at the time of purchase.

The CryptoPunks series is one of the earliest non-fungible token collectible series to hit the Ethereum blockchain and even inspired the development of the ERC-721 standard that is widely used by most NFTs today, so it isn’t a surprise that they sell for so much money. With number 3100 selling for a whopping $7.58 million.

The first 5,000 days is a digital artwork collage made by a digital artist and graphic designer named Mike Winkelmann, also known as Beeple who appears on this list a total of three times. Winkelmann started working on this collage in May 2007, posting art pieces continuously every single day for 13 years straight. The incredible amount of $69 million dollars was paid to purchase this NFT. (Yes the number 69 makes it complete.)
